Since the end of the 18th century, the clash of economic, social, cultural, demographic change as well as the change in political institutions radically transformed the image of the European Atlantic societies. The focus of the transformation process of the entire society at that time was the relative displacement of the agricultural sector combined with simultaneous and rapidly driven industrialisation especially since the mid-19th century. Thus, this lecture aims at analysing this process, which is called Industrial Revolution, with regard to its underlying requirements, its trends as well as its socioeconomic effects.
