Welcome to the Department of British, North American, and Anglophone Literatures and Cultures at Saarland University.
Our Department is characterized by a wide range of teaching and research activities, covering all genres and all periods from the early modern period to the present.
Our teaching and writing concern literary and cultural studies, English linguistics with a special emphasis on spoken language, and media studies. The Department combines the following disciplines and perspectives:
- British Literary and Cultural Studies
- North American Literary and Cultural Studies
- Transcultural Anglophone Studies
English Linguistics
We offer our students the BA program "World English, Literatures and Cultures"as well as the full range of degrees for prospective schoolteachers (Lehramt an Gymnasien und Gesamtschulen, Lehramt an Realschulen und Gesamtschulen, Lehramt an Hauptschulen und Gesamtschulen, Lehramt an beruflichen Schulen). We will soon offer a Master's program as well.
