Our teaching and writing concern literary and cultural studies, English linguistics with a special emphasis on spoken language, and media studies. The department combines the following disciplines and perspectives:

We offer our students the BA program "English: Linguistics, Literatures, and Cultures (Bachelor)," the Masters program "English, American and Anglophone Studies," as well as the full range of degrees for prospective schoolteachers (Lehramt an Gymnasien und Gesamtschulen, Lehramt an Realschulen und Gesamtschulen, Lehramt an Hauptschulen und Gesamtschulen, Lehramt an beruflichen Schulen).
