9th Teachers’ Day

“Pronouncing English”

With a stronger focus on speaking and listening in foreign language teaching, English pronunciation and its development are becoming more relevant for today’s EFL teachers. Teachers’ Day 2012 offers advice and practical help with questions such as:

  • how English pronunciation is changing in different varieties
  • how to teach the sounds of English to beginners and advanced students
  • how to deal with intonation patterns
  • how to encourage oral expression while stressing correct pronunciation
  • how to assess pronunciation in oral exams

Teachers’ Day, organized by the English department and the ZfL, is an annual event that aims to bring together people from all three phases of teacher education: students, teacher-trainees, and serving teachers. It is designed to enhance teacher education at Saarland University.
