EUSMAT supports the Department of Materials Science in working together with an experienced consortium of renowned European universities in the field of Materials Science and Engineering; operating together with a versatile network of contacts in third countries, based on a partnership with the Humboldt Foundation.

EUSMAT creates and coordinates a network with industrial partners interested in collaboration with the university network in aspects such as education, further training and qualification of international, employable leaders.

The tasks of EUSMAT are:

• strategic planning and coordination of individual programmes
• systematic management of third-party funds
• building up advanced training offers on all levels (Bachelor - Master - Doctorate - Continuous Education)
• coordination of:
  • European university network
  • public relations
  • contact with industries
  • contact with worldwide network of country coordinators
  • marketing activities (in Saarland, Germany, Europe, worldwide)
