Erasmus Mundus aims to enhance quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships will be awarded to students for each of the five editions of the EMMC. The number of scholarships for each category of individuals (students from categories A and B as well as third-country) will be defined on a yearly basis and communicated to selected EMMCs in the autumn of the year preceding the academic year concerned. As an indication, this number will most probably vary between 7 and 17 student scholarships.

It should be noted that, while the Category A scholarships should be considered as "full scholarships" covering all necessary costs of the student during his/her study period in Europe, Category B scholarships have to be considered as a "financial contribution" to the student's costs while following his/her EMMC studies.
