European Integration (Aufbaustudiengang)


The Master’s degree programme has been conceived as a postgraduate programme in European and international law. The Master’s programme is split into a nine-month phase of taught courses (45 credits) and a three-month period in which students prepare and compile their Master’s thesis (15 credits). The programme comprises introductory level courses, specialist courses and seminars. Which are held in both English and German. Each module concludes with either a written or oral exam.  Students can choose between the following modules:

- Module 1: European law
- Module 2: Core subject area: European economic law
- Module 3: Core subject area: Foreign trade
- Module 4: Core subject area: International arbitration and   mediation
- Module 5: Core subject area: European protection of human rights

Graduates from the Master’s programme have completed an intensive and broad-ranging education in European and international law. In addition to providing students with the requisite theoretical knowledge, the programme places great emphasis on practical training. Graduates from the programme are qualified for positions in the business, academic and political sectors both within Europe and internationally, such as in international law firms, internationally active businesses or commercial enterprises, European institutions or international agencies and organizations.
