Werkstoffwissenschaft - European Master AMASE
The AMASE Programme is a common Master Programme delivered by four European Universities. It is based on an existing European Engineering Study Programme (EEIGM) and is supported by the FEMS (Federation of European Materials Societies) through its founding member the DGM (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde).
Due to its high quality, AMASE has been awarded Erasmus Mundus Brand Name (EMBN) by the European Comission /EACA through which it commits itself to maintaining the requirements and level of excellence expected from an Erasmus Mundus Master Course.
The European consortium has established partnerships with several third-countries insti-tutions. The aim of the Masters programme is to provide:
- A well-integrated language and cultural experience.
- Education in close relation to the research activities of the four consortium members.
- Education in advanced materials, to enhance the innovation potential of the students in their future activities.
- Preparation of the students for life-long learning in new places and new educa-tion/work systems.
- Enhancement of networking activities within the EU and with third countries in the field of research and education.
The combined and harmonised teaching and research programmes of the four member universities offer:
- A far greater variety of competences in the field of materials science and engineering than could be provided by a single university.
- A significant added value for the students in terms of opportunities for specialisation.
- A broad spectrum on research possibilities, from fundamental to industry-related re-search.
- The transfer of individual university-profiles to the whole programme.
The graduates of the AMASE Programme will be able to:
- Take responsibility for an industrial research or development project.
- Start Ph.D.-studies.
- Reinforce the research teams within the consortium or in industrial, university labo-ratories in their country of origin as well as in similar institutions world-wide.
- Adapt easily to working in new countries/new cultures.
- Work in international networks as required by an increasingly globalized industrial and scientific environment.
- Transfer their knowledge to other students and work as a multiplicator, especially in their home countries.
- Integrate multinational work teams (industry or universities) with the advantage of the language skills and cultural knowledge gained during the Master programme.
