Re-registration
Students who plan to continue studying at Saarland University in the following semester must ensure that they pay the requisite semester fee and, where appropriate, the university tuition fee within the prescribed time limit. Students who pay the applicable fees within the specified time period are deemed to have affirmed their intention to continue as an enrolled student at Saarland University in the forthcoming semester (re-registration).
You will be re-registered at Saarland University on payment of the semester fee of EUR 159.The re-registration period for summersemester 2013 runs from 14.01.2013 until 28.02.2013. Re-registering late is permitted in the period from 01.03.2013 until 28.03.2013. If you re-register late, you will incur an additional late re-registration charge of EUR 10.
Special fee structures apply to students in the various types of post-graduate and further education programmes, as well as to non-enrolled students (Gasthörer), senior citizen students and cross-enrolled students. Additional information:
If you do not re-register, you will be automatically deregistered (i.e. removed from the list of enrolled students) at the end of the current summer or winter semester.
Students in a post-graduate academic programme:
If your formal offer of admission (Zulassungsbescheid) to Saarland University specifies a reference number (Titelnummer), this number must also be specified on the lower line of the ‘designated use’ field (Verwendungszweck) on your bank transfer form.
Cross-enrolled students:
If you are a cross-enrolled student (i.e. you are enrolled at Saarland University in addition to being primarily enrolled at another higher education institution), you are also required to provide a new certificate of enrolment (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) for the semester for which you are re-registering as issued by the university or institution of higher education at which you are primarily enrolled. If you became a cross-enrolled student in a restricted-entry programme in the winter semester of 2007/2008 or later, you will be required to submit a new cross-enrolment approval slip (as issued by the dean’s office of the relevant faculty at Saarland University) if your existing cross-enrolment approval slip no longer covers the semester for which you are re-registering.
A student who is cross-enrolled at Saarland University as part of the South-West University Alliance and who is primarily enrolled at the University of Trier, the University of Kaiserslautern or at Landau University is not required to pay fees at Saarland University. If a cross-enrolled student also wishes to have a Saarland University semester travel ticket, the student must pay EUR 94. Please provide notification of your voluntary purchase of the semester travel ticket when submitting the new certificate of enrolment so that this can be recorded in the student database.
Changes
in student information:
If you change your home address or semester address, you must notify the Admissions Office within the re-registration period. You are also obliged to inform the Admissions Office if you completed your academic programme during the last semester or if you became irrevocably ineligible to sit an examination or if you changed your nationality. Please provide notification using the following form:
Re-registration – supplementary information notification form. You also can notify the university about a change of address at any time by using the validation terminals located on campus.
Documents and forms can be sent by post or can deposited in the letter box located outside building A4 2 on the Saarbrücken campus. Please remember to specify your enrolment number in your accompanying letter.
Re-registration will be deemed to have occurred once we have received your payment, unless your re-registration has been blocked. Re-registration may be blocked for a number of reasons, including: your health insurance fund has provided notification that your health insurance payments are in arrears, you have switched to another health insurance provider, you are no longer eligible to sit an examination, or you have passed your final examinations. In that case, we will require an up-to-date certificate of health insurance from your health insurance fund or you will need to apply to change your enrolment details to indicate that you are now in another academic programme.
Validating your Saarland University Card:
At least one week after the university has received your payment, you can (re-)validate your Saarland University Card for the coming semester at one of the validation terminals located around campus.
Documents that you may require (semester transcript sheet (Belegblatt), Certificate of Enrolment, BAföG certification, etc.) can be printed online or at one of the validation terminals. In exceptional cases, these documents may be posted to a student upon receipt of a stamped, self-addressed envelope (postage required: EUR 0,58 in German stamps).
As it can take several days for payments to be credited to the university’s account, please initiate payment early enough to ensure that the money will be received by the university within the re-registration period.
If you have any questions, please contact the staff at the Admissions Office for assistance.
