Qualification for admission to higher education

Foreign school leaving certificates are generally not equal or equivalent to the German Abitur. They are classified as follows:

School leaving certificates permitting direct access to institutions of higher education
If you have a school leaving certificate of this type, you can apply directly for admission to Saarland University, provided you can demonstrate adequate German language skills. Please note that your school leaving certificate might not entitle you to study all subjects available at Saarland University.

School leaving certificates requiring a subsequent assessment test (Studienkolleg)
If your school leaving certificate is in this group, you will first need to pass the higher education assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) at a Studienkolleg before you can apply to study at Saarland University.
