The objective of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is to modularize course curricula and thus improve the transparency of course requirements and the comparability of student academic achievements. The ECTS aims to facilitate student mobility between institutions of higher education. Saarland University has approved the mandatory introduction of the ECTS model for all courses of study.
