International Office: Accommodation services
The International Office at Saarland University offers accommodation to:
- international exchange students (LLP/Erasmus, non-European programmes, Eastern Europe programmes, etc.)
Students who are not part of an exchange programme may only apply for accommodation in a hall of residence through the Studentenwerk (Saarland Student Services). Descriptions of the student halls of residence can be found on the Studentenwerk site by clicking on the ‘Accommodation’ tab, while the ‘Student Halls of Residence Accommodation Application Form’ can be found by clicking the tab ‘Downloads’.
There are two ways in which we can help you find suitable accommodation. You will need to decide whether you would like a room or small apartment in one of our student halls of residence or whether you would prefer to find a room in the private housing market.
We will be happy to help you with the official formalities (‘red tape’) that you will need to deal with during your first few days in Germany (health insurance, enrolment/registration at the university, registering with the Residents' Registration Office and the Foreigners’ Registration Office, etc.) This offer is open to all students, not just to those whose accommodation was arranged through the International Office. We have prepared a checklist to help you with your preparations (‘What do I need to know and what do I need to do before departing for Germany?’) and an information sheet about what happens after you arrive in Saarbrücken (‘What do I need to know and do when I get to Saarbrücken?’).
