NanoCom

"NanoCom-Network" is designed to develop cooperation between european and latin american institutions in the field of advanced processing and characterization of micro and nano composites. The network is made up of 2 Universities in Europe (Universität des Saarlandes, Germany; and Technische Universität Wien, Austria), 1 Research Center (Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin, Germany) and 4 Institutions in Latin America (Centro Atómico Bariloche and Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto in Argentina, Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil and Universidad de Concepción in Chile). The purpose is to combine the different thematic specialties of different experts in the multidisciplinary field of materials science in order to design new composite materials with superior properties and performance. The duration of the project is from May 2010 until December 2012. During this period, a total of 39 exchanges will be carried out comprising a total amount of 55 months and 30 materials scientists.

Final Nano Com Meeting

On May 30th and 31th, the final meeting of the NanoCom took place in Saarbrücken.

"NanoCom-Network" was designed to develop cooperation between european and latin american institutions in the field of advanced processing and characterization of micro and nano composites.

The network was made up of 2 Universities in Europe (Universität des Saarlandes, Germany; and Technische Universität Wien, Austria), 1 Research Center (Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin, Germany) and 4 Institutions in Latin America (Centro Atómico Bariloche and Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto in Argentina, Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil and Universidad de Concepción in Chile).

Furthermore, NanoCom was supported by the European Commission within the International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) in the 7th Framework Programme.

The purpose was to combine the different thematic specialties of different experts in the multidisciplinary field of materials science in order to design new composite materials with superior properties and performance.

The duration of the project was from May 2010 until December 2012. During this period, a total of 38 exchanges were carried out comprising a total amount of 56 months and 30 materials scientists and a total budget of 99.000€.

At the last meeting, 22 participants and organizers from Argentinia, Brazil, Germany, Uruguay, Chile and Austria took place and presented their results.

Dr. Flavio Soldera, one of the organizers said: “The whole project was an outstanding success. More than 95% of the exchanges could be realized and 15 articles were published. We are very proud of the project and optimistic that the great networking will go one.”
