Researchers at the Saarbrücken Cluster of Excellence are working towards realizing intelligent computer systems that can understand and respond to human language, facial expressions and gestures. The Cluster involves collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science, Computer Linguistics and Phonetics at Saarland University and research groups and teams at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (MPII), the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS) and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). Research scientists are engaged in interdisciplinary projects aimed at developing intelligent computer systems that are able to recognize, interpret and respond to acoustic and visual information.
