The International Research Training Group "Complex Membrane Proteins in Cellular Development and Disease" (IRTG 1830) offers several PhD Fellowships in Life Sciences. The program is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
The IRTG 1830 - jointly run by the University of Kaiserslautern (Germany), Saarland University (Germany) and the University of Alberta (Canada) - offers integrative approaches to biomedical research with a strong emphasis on developmental processes and diseases.
Research areas: Neurobiology, Animal Physiology, Molecular Biophysics, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Cell Biology, Plant Physiology, Immunology, Medical Biochemistry, Microbiology and more.
Applications for the 3-year PhD program can be submitted with immediate effect. Projects start in June 2012. Applications can only be submitted via our online system.

The program includes a 6-months stay in a lab of our Canadian partners and offers excellent scientific and transferable skills training at all participating locations. The program language is English and there are no tuition fees. Successful candidates will receive either contracts (65% TVL13) or a competitive tax-free fellowship, as well as support with administrative matters, accommodation, visas etc. We invite applications from highly qualified and motivated students of any nationality and we are looking forward to your application for a PhD fellowship in our group.
