Language combination and degrees

Students with basic language German are free to choose any two of the above languages if they are enrolled for the degree Diplom-Übersetzer. The degree course for a Diplom-Dolmetscher allows only the following language combination:

• first foreign language:
  English, French, or Spanish

• second foreign language:
  English, French, Italian, or Spanish

The science of translation (in one of the five languages)can also be chosen as the main or supplementary subject for a master's degree course or PhD course, e.g. in combination with 'German as a foreign language', general linguistics, (i.e. computational linguistics) or other subjects.
