Welcome to the department of
Molecular- and Cell Biology, Prof. Dr. Manfred J. Schmitt, at the Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany.
Our research focusses on microbial and viral A/B toxins and their uptake, intracellular transport and mode of operation within yeast and mammalian cells. In addition to these fundamental research topics we concentrate on application-oriented research projects in the scope of live cell vaccination, novel antimycotica and screening systems for potential tumor inhibitors in humans.
We take part in the
DFG Priority Program 1365 "Ubiquitin Family Network".
Furthermore we provide several lectures and courses for diploma, bachelor and lehramt study programs in biology and pharmaceutics.
Our workgroup is part of the
Human and Molecular Biology Center (Zentrum für Human- und Molekularbiologie, ZHMB) of the Saarland University.
