General Information about the conference site:
Landessportschule (Saarland Sports College)
The conference site at the Saarland Sports College ("Landessportschule") is adjacent to the main campus of Saarland University approximately 3 kilometres outside the city centre in one of the many woodland areas surrounding Saarbrücken.
How to get from the bus stop to the conference site?
If you arrive by bus, get off the bus at the bus stop “Landessportschule”. Follow the sign “Landessportschule”. You get to a crossing. Continue uphill on the right hand street. When you reach the parking area, turn left to get to the conference rooms and to the reception. The reception and cafeteria are situated in building 1. Conference room I and II are in building 2, conference room IV is in building 15.

How to get from the conference site to the workshop location at the university campus?
The workshop by Mick O’Donnell “Introduction to the UAM Corpus Tool” will take place at the university campus.
To get to the workshop location at the university campus, you need to walk towards building 15. You pass building 15 on the right hand side and carry on straight until you reach a beach volleyball pitch on the left hand side. Turn left after the beach volley ball pitch and carry on straight until you reach the main university entrance on the left hand side. Turn right and building A 2 2 is on your left hand side. The workshop location is on the 2nd floor in room 214.
There will be signs directing you to the location as well.

Meals
Lunch (included if booked) is available from 12.00 to 13.30 pm.
During the breaks, coffee will be available in building 1 outside the conference rooms I and II.
Snacks and hot food will be available from the cafeteria. If you wish to have dinner at the Landessportschule, you need to book in the morning. The cafeteria is situated in building 1.
Important: Only CASH is accepted at the Landessportschule.
There are other possibilities for food and drinks at the University campus. Refer to the campus map to find out about the locations.
The refectory on the campus is open until 7.30 pm and the café “AC” until 8 pm.
“Canossa” is the only bar on the campus and is open until late. It is situated in the refectory building.
All the other cafés on the campus are only open for lunch and in the afternoon.

Sunday, 22nd July, from 6 pm onwards:
Informal get-together
Some of you will arrive on Sunday, 22nd July. If you don’t have any plans for that night, you can meet at the beer garden by the Saarbrücken Palace (“Biergarten am Schloss”).
How to get there:
From the old market centre (“St. Johanner Markt”) you walk through “Saarstraße” towards the river Saar. You cross the Saar via the old pedestrian bridge (“Alte Brücke”) and continue towards the church you can see high up in front of you. Take the stairs on the left hand side of the church to go up to the beer garden. Alternatively, you can also continue up hill on the right hand side of the church and you will reach the “Palace Square” (“Schlossplatz”) on the left hand side. Continue towards “Bistro Chateau” and take a left turn between the “Bistro Chateau” and the Palace. The beer garden is on your left hand side.

Please register on Monday morning in building 2 in front of conference room I.
Tuesday, 24th July, 8 pm
Reception Mayor and Conference dinner
You need to book beforehand, if you wish to participate.
The Reception Mayor will take place at the Conference dinner, which will take place at the “Bistro Chateau” next to Saarbrücken Palace.
How to get there:
Cross the river Saar via the old pedestrian bridge (“Alte Brücke”) and continue towards the church you can see in front of you. Continue up hill on the right hand side of the church. You will reach the Palace Square (“Schlossplatz”), where the “Bistro Chateau” is located.
Thursday, 26th July, 9.30 am – 8pm
Excursion
You need to book beforehand, if you wish to participate. There are still places available.
We will meet at 9.30 am at the Landessportschule or at 9.45 am at the Congress Centrum Saar “Congresshalle”.
In the morning we will visit the World Cultural Heritage Site Völklinger Ironworks. After a guided tour through this impressive site, we will head north and have lunch in the picturesque city of Saarburg. In the afternoon we will visit the Roman villa in Borg. And the crowning events will be a stop at Saarland’s landmark the “Saarschleife”, the loop of the river Saar, and at the Villeroy&Boch town Mettlach.

Bus services
Bus routes 102 or 124 run by the Saartal Bus Company (to "Dudweiler-Dudoplatz" or "Uni-Campus") will take you from Saarbrücken Central Station to "Landessportschule", the conference site at the Saarland Sports College. For more detailed information, please refer to the Saarbrücken Bus Timetables.
A Taxi from the central Station to the conference site will be about 15€. You will find them in front of the central Station or call +49 (0)681 33033.
Money
The official currency in Germany is the Euro (€). Most teller machines work with foreign bank or credit cards.
You will find a teller machine on campus, a few minutes walk away from the conference site at the Saarland Sports College on the left side of building A5 4 (see the campus map).

Things to do in Saarbrücken
You should not miss the market square “St. Johanner Markt” with its various cafés, bars and restaurants. You can sit outside and enjoy a warm summer night.
The Saarland State Theater is situated by the river Saar, close to the market square St. Johann. There are also various Cinemas. Some of them sometimes show movies in foreign languages.
Weather in the Saarland
