Prof. Römisch research group focuses on the biogenesis of secretory proteins, which are of crucial importance for the communication between cells and organs.

The following research topics are of particular interest:

• Quality control of secretory and transmembrane proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum
• Transport of proteins across cellular membranes
• Effects of mutations and evolutionary changes in the quality control machinery
