Application and Enrolment

How do I apply for and enrol in a European Studies programme?

1. Select your specialist subject

If you are interested in studying one of the Bachelor's programmes in European Studies, you should first decide which of the three specialist subjects you would like to select. The study coordinator responsible for European Studies, the Central Student Advisory Service and the programme advisers responsible for the three specialist subjects 'Geographies of Europe', 'Modern and Contemporary History' and 'Comparative Literature' will help you make your decision.

2. Fill in the online application form

The Bachelor's degree programmes in European Studies are subject to admission restrictions. This means that only a certain number of places are available on the programme and that you need to apply for admission. You need to select your preferred specialist subject when applying for admission. However, you can specify another specialist subject as a second preference. The degree programmes in European Studies always begin in the winter semester. Applications to start studying in the following winter semester can be submitted from the beginning of June until 15 July.
Click the following link for further information on the online application procedure.

4. Pursue your studies in European Studies

On the first day of the main teaching period, the President of Saarland University welcomes the students to the new semester. Additionally, an information fair is held in the university’s main lecture theatre ('Audimax', foyer of Building B4 1), where you can find out more about university life. There will also be an introductory event for students studying European Studies. More information will be made available soon.
