International foundation programme (VSi MINT)
(1) VSiMINT replaces the compact preparatory ‘T courses’ that were previously offered.
(2) The German acronym ‘MINT’ is equivalent to the English acronym ‘STEM’, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.
Preparatory courses in German, Mathematics and Physics
The international foundation programme VSi MINT has been designed to enable candidates who do not have a recognized higher education entrance qualification and whose German is not yet proficient enough for normal study to join Saarland University’s special ‘Bachelor Plus MINT’ programme.
Contact hours: 15 hours per week, combinated with a level B2/C1 German course.
During the first semester, students attend a German language course at CEFRL level B2/C1 (18 hours per week) in combination with foundation courses in mathematics (10 hours per week) and physics (5 hours per week). At the end of the semester, students will take a German language exam, which is structured similarly to the DSH language proficiency test, and an intermediate exam in mathematics and physics.
This is followed by a preparatory phase at the institution at which the student wants to study. For more detailed information, please use the following links: VSi MINT (for Saarland University) and ING Prep (for htw saar, flyer (in German))
If you do not yet have the necessary German language skills to join the level B2/C1 language course, you can attend the ‘level I’ preliminary course.
