Cognitive Control Across the Lifespan

 

Our research unit is focused on lifespan cognition. According to a lifespan approach we investigate the multidirectionality and multidimensionality of cognitive functioning across the lifespan. For instance, the two component model of intellectual functioning shows differential age-related changes in fluid-like and crystallized intellectual abilities across the lifespan (Kray & Lindenberger, 2007).  Age-sensitive are primarily those cognitive abilities that rely on the speed and coordination of elementary cognitive processes such as required in working memory or reasoning tasks. The focus of our research unit is to examine age-related changes in cognitive control processes that have been strongly linked to age-related changes in fluid abilities. We are specifically interested in the following research topics:
