Bioinformatics

The group also includes a strong bioinformatics unit. Here, we rely on a two-part hardware solution: a "workhorse" server, on which data sets of smaller projects are computed, and a compute server, on which meta-analyses and the computation of large data sets are possible. Thanks to generous hard disk capacity, data sets are always mirrored and additionally backed up on NAS servers.

Through collaboration with the chairs of Bioinformatics (UdS) and the MPI for Computer Science (on the Saarbrücken campus), we have expanded our expertise in NGS data analysis over the years and developed state-of-the-art analysis pipelines for our sequencing applications.
