Applicants wishing to join the first semester of the degree programmes in medicine, dentistry and pharmaceutical science must submit an application for admission through AntOn, the online admissions platform managed by This applies to German nationals, nationals of an EU or EEA member state and to foreign applicants with a German higher education entrance qualification.

Application deadlines
  • Winter semester: 15 July (or 31 May for applicants who were awarded their higher education entrance qualification (HEEQ) before 16 January of the year in which they are applying)
  • Summer semester: 15 January
How are places allocated?

40% of the places are awarded by the National Coordinating Office for University Admissions (SfH) according to the following formula:

  • 20% are allocated to those applicants with the highest HEEQ grades
  • 20% of places are awarded on the basis of the time an applicant has spent on the programme waiting list

The remaining 60% of places are allocated by Saarland University itself based on the criteria set out in the selection procedures used by universities ('AdH selection rules'). Applicants do not need to submit a separate application in order to be included in the local selection process.
