Leadership Skills

Leadership Skills for Doctoral Researchers

Leadership know-how is often neglected at universities. It is, however, a very important part of an academic's skillset. As a doctoral researcher, you will both have to lead and be under the guidance of one or more supervisors. Moreover, you might have to instruct students, student assistants, or other members of your group.

This workshop will teach you the basics of leadership skills. We will discuss different types of leadership, its special role in academia, and your personal style of being and becoming a leader.

In particular, the workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Fundamentals of leadership
  • Different aspects of leadership and individual experiences
  • How to deal with challenging situations and solving conflicts as/with a team leader
  • Personal development of leadership skills

This workshop is sponsored by the DAAD project "GradUS global".
