The course "Management Information Systems" introduces students both conceptually and practically into current methods and systems of business intelligence and analytics. Based on the discussion of information requirements in management, central information methods in the categories of data querying and data pattern recognition are comprehensively described and evaluated. Correspondingly, major relevant system categories (data base-, data warehouse-, spread sheet-, OLAP- and data mining-systems) are comprehensively discussed and assessed. Three subsequent case studies refer to the in-depth practice application of current information systems so as to receive relevant managerial information and decision support. 

Qualifications

Students are conceptually and practically familiar with contemporary methods and systems of business intelligence and analytics. They are able to judge information needs comprehensively, select adequate information methods and systems, and self-reliantly apply these methods and systems in order to receive relevant managerial information and decision support.
