Company run Homburg

This summer semester, the University Sports Center would once again like to motivate all students and staff of the university to start together in a company run. This year we will start at the company run in Homburg. The Homburg company run will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The start will be at 6:00 pm. The registration deadline is Sunday, May 5, 2024.

At the last company run, the university was able to provide the largest group with 1.516 participants. This year we want to pursue this goal again. And we need your help! Motivate your colleagues or fellow students and join them and our university team at the start. Everyone can join in! Walking groups are also welcome (unfortunately, no walking sticks are allowed for safety reasons).

Registration

Registration deadline is Sunday, May 5, 2024

There are always 3 participants competing as one team, whereby each team can choose its own name (possibly the name of the institution or the chair), which will then be taken into account in the registration.  In both cases, please make sure that the namecontains the word "Uni" Women-only teams, men-only teams, and mixed teams may be entered. Individuals will be combined with other individual entries to form teams.

After the registration deadline, all important information regarding the race will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail addresses indicated in the registration form. Please be sure to include the e-mail addresses on the entry form. Unfortunately, late registrations are not possible.

Participation in the company run is free of charge for runners. The university pays the registration fee. One euro of the entry fee of all runners will be donated to charitable aid projects.

Fast runners

If enough people are interested, the university would like to put together a fast women's team, a fast men's team and a fast mixed team. Therefore, we ask all ambitious runners who would be willing to support the university in this endeavor to register as individuals and enter their approximate 5K time so that we can put together the fast teams based on their running times. Maybe we can make it to the podium with one or more teams.

The route is about 5,2 km.

Running shirts

The university will provide all runners with a T-shirt for the company run so that we can start as ONE big team. It would be great if as many runners as possible wore the shirt during the race.

 

Start number distribution

The distribution of race numbers and running shirts will take place on the following dates:

Saarbrücken Campus:

Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the University Sports Center (Campus B8 1, Room 1.14) and

Friday, May 24, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. in the University Sports Center (Campus B8 1, Room 1.14)

Homburg campus:

Monday, May 27, 2024 from 9:00 am - 1:30 p.m. at the University Sports Office (Building 74, 1st floor, Room 1.11).

Further information will be sent after the registration deadline by circular e-mail to the e-mail addresses provided with the registration. Please be sure to enter a correct e-mail address when registering!

Run preparation

In preparation for the company run, the University Sports Center is offering running classes at each location this summer:
Saarbrücken: wednesdays, 16:00 h
Homburg: wednesdays, 19:00 h

In addition, our free workshop "Running ABC" will take place on Thursday, 25.04.2024 from 11:00 - 12:00 on the sports campus in Saarbrücken. In this workshop, we would like to introduce and test the basic exercises of the running ABC for all interested parties. The running ABC comprises a series of running exercises designed to improve your running style and prevent injuries. These running exercises help you to run faster and with less strain on your joints if you do them regularly. Because running only appears to be a simple movement at first glance. Although we basically don't have to think about anything when we put one foot in front of the other, the movement sequence consisting of foot strike, support and swing phase and push-off is highly complex. In running ABC, we dissect the complex running movement into its individual components and practise these isolated movement modules again and again. In fact, all runners, whether beginners or advanced, should regularly integrate these exercises into their running training (also useful for walkers).

 

Accident prevention

Accident protection via the Unfallkasse Saarland cannot be guaranteed. The accident insurance fund decides on a case-by-case basis.
