Application deadlines for the winter semester 2023/2024

First-degree programmes (Bachelor’s, teacher-training and state-examined programmes)

Bachelor's degree programs with local admission restrictions (both first and higher semesters) or certain teaching degree programs or teaching subjects (first or higher semesters):

• Application period: beginning-June to 15 July 2023
• Applies to all applicants, regardless of the year in which they obtained their higher education entrance qualification
• Letters of admission (for applications to begin a programme in the first subject semester) will normally be sent out at the beginning of August. The enrolment deadlines are specified in the letter of admission.

Bachelor's degree programmes or teaching subjects that are not subject to entry restrictions

• Enrolment period: beginning/mid-June to end of September. This enrolment period also applies to international applicants with a foreign higher education entrance qualification, provided that when they request enrolment they already have valid preliminary review documentation from uni-assist and can provide proof of adequate proficiency in German.
• If you are an international applicant who is submitting an initial application for enrolment to study a non-restricted-entry degree programme and you need a letter of admission from Saarland University so that a visa can be issued prior to enrolment, please submit your application by no later than the end of August 2023.

Master's degree programmes

If the application needs to be submitted via the online admission application form (SIM portal) and not directly to the relevant department that manages the programme, you can submit your application from  the beginning of June 2023.

Higher-level entry in first-degree programmes

The application period for a higher-level entry is the same as for the same programme for the first semester.
