The Data-Driven Simulation and Analysis in Materials Science research group investigates artificial intelligence methods for scientific and engineering applications.

Profile

Roland Aydin studied computer science at the Technical University of Munich and the Georgia Institute of Technology (U.S.) as well as medicine at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Among other roles, he served as a researcher at the Chair of Numerical Mechanics at the Technical University of Munich and as head of the "Machine Learning and Data" department at the Institute of Material Systems Modeling at the Helmholtz Center Hereon.

His work lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence and data-driven methods in the natural and engineering sciences. In his research, Roland Aydin combines AI methods with simulation-based approaches to analyze and solve complex scientific problems. A particular focus of his work is the combination of large language models with autonomous agent systems and other machine learning methods, as well as specific alignment research.
