Professor Tim Meyer wird von der saarländischen Ministerpräsidentin Anke Rehlinger mit dem Saarländischen Verdienstorden ausgezeichnet.

Ministerpräsidentin Anke Rehlinger hat am Donnerstag, 13. November 2025 in der Staatskanzlei den renommierten Sportmediziner Prof. Dr. Tim Meyer mit dem Saarländischen Verdienstorden ausgezeichnet. Mit der höchsten Ehrung des Landes würdigt die Ministerpräsidentin die herausragenden Verdienste des langjährigen Teamarztes der Deutschen Fußballnationalmannschaft und heutigen Lehrstuhlinhabers für Sport- und Präventivmedizin an der Universität des Saarlandes. The potential applications of AI are coming into play more and more in disciplines in the humanities, including literary studies. AI-supported methods are taking on an increasingly decisive role in the interpretation of literary texts (hermeneutics) as well as in research. The conference 'Artifizielle Hermeneutik. At the festival celebrating the Day of German Unity 2025, Saarland University will join together with research institutes, partner institutions and the Saarland University Medical Centre to showcase numerous research projects in computer science, medicine, biosciences and the university's focus on Europe. There will also be a wide range of hands-on activities which will allow children and young people to experiment for themselves. [...]

On Thursday, 16 October at 6 p.m., the University Society of Saarland will once again honour young researchers for their outstanding doctoral dissertations. The ceremony will take place in the Aula (Building A3 3) on the Saarbrücken campus. This year's Eduard Martin Prize winners will share insights into their research, highlighting its relevance, impact and potential societal benefits. Im Rahmen der fachrichtungsübergreifenden Vorlesungsreihe „Raumschiff Erde – Klimawandel“ spricht der Klimaanpassungsmanager Jan-Hendrik Jochens am Dienstag, 18. November, um 17.15 Uhr über das Thema „Klimaanpassung in der Landeshauptstadt Saarbrücken“. Der Vortrag findet im neuen Chemie-Hörsaalgebäude statt (Gebäude C4 3, kleiner Hörsaal II) und kann auch online mitverfolgt werden. [...]

Die Fachrichtung Evangelische Theologie lädt zu ihrem Studientag am 19. November (Buß- und Bettag) ein, der von 16 bis 18 Uhr auf dem Campus, Gebäude A4 2 (Seminarraum 3.11.1), stattfindet. Beim Studientag wird das Projekt "growing4respect" vorgestellt. Dabei gehen die beiden Religionslehrer Benjamin Chait und Akin Aslan als jüdisch-muslimisches Tandem in Schulen und zeigen in Workshops, was die beiden Weltreligionen verbindet. [...]

Professor Moritz Schularick zählt zu den einflussreichsten deutschen Ökonomen. Seit 2023 leitet er das weltweit renommierte Kieler Institut für Weltwirtschaft. In einem Vortrag am 19. November um 16:30 Uhr in der Aula der Universität wird Moritz Schularick aus ökonomischer Sicht die aktuellen Verteidigungsausgaben analysieren. Zu dem Wissenschaftsforum laden die Industrie- und Handelskammer Saar, die Universitätsgesellschaft und das Ministerium der Finanzen und für Wissenschaft ein. [...]

Die Einsatzmöglichkeiten von KI betreffen immer mehr geisteswissenschaftliche Disziplinen – dies gilt auch für die Literaturwissenschaft. Bei der Interpretation literarischer Texte (Hermeneutik) wie auch in der Forschung spielen KI-gestützte Verfahren eine immer entscheidendere Rolle. Die Tagung „Artifizielle Hermeneutik. Kontingenz, Sinn, Digitalität” vom 19. bis 21. November fragt daher nach dem Spannungsfeld zwischen konventionellen Ansätzen der Textdeutung und computergestützten Verfahren. [...]

Zum Abschluss der Vortragsreihe „Auswirkungen Künstlicher Intelligenz auf die Arbeitswelt“ findet am 19. November um 18 Uhr eine Diskussionsrunde statt, bei der Gewerkschaftliche Herausforderungen durch Künstliche Intelligenz im Vordergrund stehen.
