The Welcome Center provides information and assistance to visiting international scholars and doctoral research students, international members of university staff, international students on Master's or Bachelor's degree programmes, and to refugees interested in studying at Saarland University.
The staff members and tutors at the Centre for International Students (ZiS) provide assistance and guidance to new international students during their first few weeks on campus, helping them to settle in to university life, to organize their academic studies and to get to know other students.
The goal of this unit within AStA is to improve the situation for international students at Saarland University. Talks and events, particularly initiatives to lower or remove language barriers, are organized by the support unit with the aim of assisting international students with questions about day-to-day living and studying at Saarland University.
The subject coordinators in the university's faculties provide subject-specific advice to Erasmus students throughout their studies at Saarland University and to Saarland University students who are interested in studying abroad as part of the Erasmus+ programme.
