Saarland University provides an excellent environment in which cutting-edge research can thrive. Both the Saarbrücken and Homburg campuses host dynamic research ecosystems in which university departments cooperate closely with highly respected independent research institutions. Institutes from all four major German research organizations – the Max Planck Society, the Helmholtz Association, the Fraunhofer Society and the Leibniz Association – are located in the immediate vicinity of the university. State-of-the-art large-scale research equipment is pooled centrally and can be accessed by researchers in the university's core facilities.
