Nagoya Protocol

Information and advice for researchers

Since 2016, Germany has been a party to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization. This legally binding international agreement advances the goals of the 1993 UN Convention on Biological Diversity. The Nagoya Protocol establishes a clear framework for access to genetic resources and ensures fair and equitable benefit‑sharing between countries of origin and the countries that use such resources.

Saarland University supports researchers whose work falls within the scope of the Nagoya Protocol by providing them with clear information and expert advice.
