The Centre for Quantum Technologies (QuTe) at Saarland University bridges the gap between basic research and practical application. With over €53 million in funding from the Saarland state government's transformation fund, we are working with Forschungszentrum Jülich to develop quantum technologies and algorithms as well as innovative software solutions for quantum computers.
Our interdisciplinary team from the fields of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering is working on two main areas: quantum engineering – the development of practical quantum systems – and quantum software – the development and programming of algorithms for quantum computers. This opens up new possibilities for material simulation, drug development, logistics optimisation and many other areas where conventional computers reach their limits.
As a globally visible location for quantum technologies, we combine scientific excellence with the promotion of young talent, technology-oriented degree programmes and close cooperation with the regional economy. This not only leads to scientific breakthroughs, but also to start-ups, patents and new perspectives for the future.
The Center for Quantum Technologies (QuTe) is supported by the Transformation Program Research and Knowledge Transfer Saar.
