Dr. Merel Scholman

As a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Vera Demberg's group, I am affiliated with the DFG-funded SFB-1102 project "Information Density and Linguistic Encoding" and the ERC-funded project "Individualized Interaction in Discourse".

My work falls in the field of discourse and communication. I'm interested in cognitive models of language understanding, focusing on coherence in particular. I use a combination of off-line and on-line methodologies − corpus-based studies, crowdsourced studies, and reading time experiments − to investigate questions related to the interpretation and processing of discourse.
