I joined the Department of English at Saarland University in the Summer Semester 2015 as a lecturer in English as a Foreign Language. Before coming to Saarbrücken, I spent a number of years as a peripatetic language teacher, teaching English to international students in Scotland and Mexico, and German and Spanish to secondary school pupils in England. My educational background includes a BA in International Relations and Spanish from Flinders University, Adelaide and a MA in Interpreting and Translation Studies from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. I also hold a Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Cambridge and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Canterbury Christ Church University. I would describe myself as a word maven and keen follower of UK politics. In my teaching, I draw on a wide range of topics for texts and discussions, ranging from linguistics to politics to philosophy. Truth be told, though, I mostly talk about linguistics because that’s what I’m really passionate about!
