Diversity in the English-Language Classroom

Resisting recent trends in world politics, and fostering the global outlook that the Saarland is known for, in 2018 we will be celebrating diversity. As teachers of English it is our responsibility to provide the equality of opportunity that knowledge of English affords. This year’s Teachers’ Day will be a diversity fest. There will be a range of workshops catering to a variety of cultural, linguistic and educational backgrounds and addressing the challenges posed by differing ability levels as well as learning needs, styles and preferences.

Topics will include:

  • Differentiated testing
  • Inclusion through cultural action
  • Using a flipped-classroom approach
  • Inclusive practices in the language classroom
  • Differentiated writing
  • Developing listening skills for multi-level learners
  • Meeting the needs of the diverse classroom

As always, you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other teachers and experts both from Germany and abroad. We look forward to welcoming you in September!
