Language Assistants Programme (FSA)
The FSA (Fremdsprachenassistenz) programme is organized by the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD), which works on behalf of the German federal states to promote international exchange and cooperation in the school sector. Students are assigned to teach German at an educational institution abroad and receive financial compensation for their work. In doing so, they also gain valuable insights into the host country's education system and its specific teaching methodologies.
Students who participate in the programme are granted exemptions from selected modules in subject-specific pedagogy, language practice and in regional culture studies, based on internal equivalence regulations established by the university. (Further information for students can be found in the 2007 and 2010 examination regulations or the 2012 examination regulations.)
While PAD is responsible for the organization of the language assistants programme, applications must be submitted to the Saarland Ministry of Education. Application documents with information on the application process and how the programme works are also available from the Romance Languages and Literature departmental office a few weeks before the application deadline.
The PAD website provides a detailed description of the programme as well as application information and forms.
