Theses in Sports Analytics
Students interested in sports analytics are welcome to reach out regarding theses. Further information about writing a thesis can be found in the document below. Please send your CV, a transcript of records, a proposal describing the scope of your thesis in 1-2 sentences (including references) to the email below. Before, reaching out please fill out the appended questionnaire to narrow down potential topics and ideas. Please use the email subject "Thesis Request Sports Analytics | Your Name | Desired Start of the Thesis".
Students can either select a thesis topic from a list provided by our chair (e.g. see below) or propose their own idea. In the latter case, students are required to submit a structured proposal in accordance with the provided guidelines. A list of available topics can be found below.
For all theses, a basic motivation to implement code (e.g., in Python or R) is desirable. Interdisciplinary projects, particularly those involving the faculties of computer science and mathematics, are strongly encouraged. Students interested in writing a thesis are also encouraged to participate in the reading group (see Reading Group) to gain insights into potential research areas and to contribute at least one relevant reference for discussion, ideally at an early stage of the thesis process.
