STADTRADELN
STADTRADELN 2025 (30 May to 19 June 2026)
For three weeks we cycle against other teams from Saarbrücken - every kilometre counts!

What is STADTRADELN?
In simple terms, STADTRADELN is about cycling as many trips as possible in order to make them climate neutral. It doesn't matter if you have rarely cycled in the past and have just rediscovered your bikes or if you have always simply enjoyed cycling. Every single kilometer counts - especially if you would normally have traveled it by car!
For this reason, the STADTRADELN was created. In this competition, several teams in Saarbrücken compete against each other to see who can collect the most km in 21 days. And we need every single one of you so that our university comes out on top in the end!
What are the benefits of participating?
There are several advantages to cycling. First of all, you are travelling in a climate-friendly way and thus contributing to a healthier environment and a healthier planet. In addition, you can even save time within the city (anyone who has ever travelled by car or bus through the rush hour traffic in Saarbrücken knows what this means) and you are of course also being active on every journey and thus promoting your own health.
In order to support our university and have your kilometres recorded, you must first register for the university team here:
Breakfast bags for cyclists
Cyclists who cycle up to the university on the morning of 19 May 2026 (from around 7.45 am) will be rewarded with a ‘cyclist’s breakfast bag’. It doesn’t matter where you enter the campus – we’ll be waiting for you at each of the main entrances!
(Please note: Bags will only be available while stocks last.)

Bicycle coding
On the event day, ADFC Saar is offering anyone interested the chance to have their bike coded, thereby providing better protection against theft.
How does it work? Simply fill in the form and bring it along with your ID card to the coding stand on the day of the event.
Would you prefer to come with an appointment? No problem! Then book your preferred time via the ADFC website. You’ll also find further information there about coding and the costs.
Advice on ‘hydration’ with a smoothie stand
At the information stand run by our partner, Techniker Krankenkasse, participants will receive practical advice on the topic of ‘healthy hydration’. As a special highlight, a variety of smoothies will be available to sample.

Results of STADTRADELN in recent years

Wow, just wow! We would like to say thank you to 180 active cyclists who diligently collected kilometre after kilometre for our university and thus for our environment during the 3 weeks of CITY CYCLING 2024. That's 65 more active cyclists than in 2023! Together we cycled a distance of 34,611 km (!), which means we cycled almost 8,000 km more than in 2023! This also put us in a strong 1st place within the municipality in 2024 and with a commanding lead of approx. 20,000 km over 2nd place.

We would like to say thank you to 115 active cyclists who diligently collected kilometre after kilometre for our university and thus for our environment during the 3 weeks of city cycling and together cycled a distance of 26,124 km (!)! This put us in a strong 2nd place within the municipality in 2023 and we were only ‘beaten’ by ZF Friedrichshafen AG in Saarbrücken.
Many thanks for cycling so hard and we will take 1st place in 2024!
ADFC planning bike tour on 27.06.2023
On 27.06.2023, the ADFC Saar organised a planning bike tour from Saarbrücken city centre to the campus of Saarland University. The aim of the cycle tour was to discuss existing weaknesses in the cycling infrastructure on the route from the city centre to the UdS and to discuss possible improvements together. This was followed by a discussion round on the topic of cycling infrastructure around the campus, in which everyone was able to participate.
Study stronger. Healthy living.
