Werner-Zeh-Foundation
The Werner Zeh Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law. The purpose of the foundation is to promote science, research and studies at Saarland University.
The purpose of the foundation is realized in particular by promoting projects that are suitable for significantly improving the treatment of life-threatening diseases. To this end, the foundation supports research projects, including those that are associated with a stay abroad, or projects that involve the preparation of a project proposal or supplementary measures as part of a research project.
Projects from theoretical medicine and medicine-related biosciences as well as clinical research are eligible for funding. Applicants must have a doctorate, but may not be university professors.

2024
In 2024, Dr. Claudia Fecher-Trost was selected by the Board of Trustees as the winner of the Werner Zeh Foundation. Her project is entitled: “Identification of proteins for the diagnosis and treatment of pre-eclampsia”. She was presented with the grant of EUR 19,700 at a ceremony on 11.07.2024.
The Executive Board decides on all matters concerning the foundation. The Executive Board consists of at least 3 members. It consists of
- the founder or a person to be nominated by the founder
- Persons with special expertise and experience in relation to the purposes of the foundation
