European Regional and Minority Languages Certificate (focus on the Romance-speaking world)
The European Regional and Minority Languages Certificate (focus on the Romance-speaking world) is an additional qualification at Saarland University that can be acquired by students of any subject. The aim is to give students a detailed overview of European regional and minority languages and cultures of the past and present such as Friulian, Corsican, Sardinian. Other non-Romance minority languages and cultures are also considered to a lesser extent.
Catalan Certificate (ZerKat)
The Catalan Language, Literature and Culture Certificate (ZerKat) is open to all students at Saarland University (Bachelor's, Master's, teacher training degree or doctorate). It is of particular interest for anyone planning to study in a Catalan-speaking country (Spain, Andorra, France and Italy) or region (Barcelona, Mallorca, Valencia, Perpignan and Alghero). The programme offers an interdisciplinary introduction to Catalan culture and the opportunity to reach level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Portuguese: Lusophone Languages and Cultures Certificate
The certificate is open to students of all faculties, in particular to students of the Faculty of Humanities who can acquire the certificate in the career-orientation modules (Optionalbereich) of their dual-subject Bachelor's degree programme. The Portuguese: Lusophone Languages and Cultures Certificate provides students with basic communicative skills in the Portuguese language. The language and intercultural skills acquired enable students to confidently deal with the specific national cultures of Lusophone countries (Portugal, Brazil, Macao, Cape Verde, etc.) and improve their opportunities in an internationally expanding labour market.
