Synthesis of Amphiphilic Copolymers for Membrane Technology

Projektverantwortliche: Sophie Schneider

Providing adequate amounts of fresh water to all humankind is one of the most important goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations. In this context, water purification procedures are of utmost importance. In this project, we synthesize amphiphilic copolymers for water filtration membranes. The aim is to achieve excellent membrane selectivity combined with high flux rates. This will be achieved by a suitable molecular design and controlled membrane fabrication techniques, leading to precisely tailored membrane morphologies. The project is a collaboration with the Gallei Group from Saarland University, Germany (link www.gallei-lab.com/index.html)
