Working in a foreign country can be challenging sometimes.
In order to provide you with relevant information regarding occupation related questions that may occur to you, the Human Resources Development Department at Saarland University, the Early Career Office, the Academic Staff Council, and the Trilingual
Campus would like to extend an invitation to all international employees to participate in two online Lunch Break Seminars.
We are pleased to welcome the Arbeitskammer and Bundesagentur für Arbeit as external experts for the Lunch Break Seminars sharing their knowledge and discussing your questions.
The Arbeitskammer is your point of contact for advice on labor law and social law.
During the first online Lunch Break Seminar on February 5, 12:00 – 13:30 pm, they will briefly introduce the following topics:
· employment contracts
· mini-jobs/midi-jobs
· fixed-term contracts
· contract termination
· vacation
· working hours
· employment reference letters
The Bundesagentur für Arbeit is your point of contact for job placement and labor market policy. During the second online Lunch Break Seminar on March 3, from 12:00 – 13:30 pm, they will give you a brief overview of the following topics:
· job search / job application
· labor market
· employment situation
· career counseling
· Familienkasse (familiy allowance office)
· job center
· unemployment insurance
· consequences of termination
· Arbeitslosengeld / Bürgergeld (unemployment benefits / basic income support)
· rights / obligations of cross-border workers
· residence permits
The two online Lunch Breaks will be in English via Teams.
