Transferring credits
Transferring credits
You need to enrol in at least 15 ECTS worth of courses and take the relevant examinations. You will still receive Erasmus+ funding even if you do not pass all your examinations. However, you will need proof that you took the examination.
Before setting off
Before going abroad, you will need to prepare an online learning agreement in the online portal. The learning agreement is a plan laying out the courses you intend to enrol in at your host university and whether the ECTS credits you earn will be recognized at Saarland University. In the online portal, you will need to enter the names of the Erasmus+ coordinators at your home and host universities in the 'responsible person' fields. Their signatures will then be requested via the online portal. For the LST (Saarland University), please enter the name Ümit Altar Binici and the email address erasmus-lst(at)uni-saarland.de. We will then determine if and to what extent it is possible to recognize your planned courses and sign the learning agreement.
Please fill in this Excel spreadsheet with information about the courses you intend to take. More information on filling in the spreadsheet is available in German. Please save the spreadsheet with the ending '_FirstnameLastname' and email it to the LST Departmental Erasmus Office.
You can change your learning agreement once you have gone abroad using the spreadsheet for making changes provided in the online learning agreement portal. The updated learning agreement needs to be signed by an Erasmus coordinator at your host university and by a coordinator at the LST Departmental Erasmus Office.
At the end of your stay abroad
Once you have completed your period abroad, you will receive a transcript of records from your host university listing the courses you took, how many ECTS credits you earned and what grade you received. The transcript of records is considered part of your learning agreement, even though it is provided as a separate document. In order to receive your second Erasmus payment, you will need to submit your transcript of records to the Saarland University Erasmus Office.
To have the credits you earned abroad count towards your degree, you need to submit an application to your department's examination office. You need to have had completed a learning agreement in the Erasmus+ online portal before your stay abroad. Use the form from the Faculty of Humanities' Student Services Office to request that ECTS credits from courses laid out in your learning agreement are counted towards modules or module elements from your degree programme. Visit the Faculty of Humanities web page and click on 'Auslandsaufenthalt' then 'Learning Agreement' to access the form. This form is also called the learning agreement, however, it is a different form that is exclusively for the examination office at Saarland University. If you are a student in the Department of Language Science and Technology, this form is not required.
