Graduation Ceremony

History of the Faculty of Humanities graduation ceremony

The first Faculty of Humanities graduation ceremony took place in April 2000. The celebration began simple – graduates from the Faculty of Humanities were handed their certificates in the music recital hall. The ceremony programme the following year was more festive and included a toast in the foyer of the music recital hall after the graduates received their certificates.

In 2009, the ceremony took place in the 'Aula' reception hall for the first time. Musical accompaniment and short speeches further added to the festive atmosphere of the graduation ceremony and the end of the students' time at university. 

Since 2017, the ceremony has taken place as a part of Open Campus (formerly Open Day). That year, not only Master's, but also Bachelor's students were awarded their certificates during the ceremony.

After the ceremony in 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, the event was held in a hybrid format the following two years (31 July 2021 and 21 May 2022). On 13 May 2023, the graduation ceremony was held once again in the music recital hall and broadcast as a live event. It returned to the 'Aula' on 4 May 2024.
