Moritz Weber, zurzeit Juniorprofessor für Mathematik an der Universität des Saarlandes, erhielt am Freitag den 26.02.2021 in der Staatskanzlei die Ernennungsurkunde zum Professor für Mathematik.

Frau Melanie Platz nimmt ihren Dienst als Professorin für Didaktik der Primarstufe – Schwerpunkt Mathematik an der Universität des Saarlandes auf.
Melanie Platz, zuvor Hochschulprofessorin für Mathematikdidaktik in der Primarausbildung an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Tirol, nahm am 1. März 2021 ihren Dienst als Professorin für Didaktik der Primarstufe – Schwerpunkt Mathematik an der Universität des Saarlandes auf.

Der von der DFG finnazierte Sonderforschungsbereich/Transregio „Symbolische Werkzeuge in der Mathematik und ihre Anwendung“ wurde für weitere vier Jahre bewilligt.
Von 2021-2024 wird er  mit insgesamt rund 8,5 Millionen Euro finanziert. Die Mitglieder in diesem Verbund sind TU Kaiserslautern, RWTH Aachen und die Universität des Saarlandes. Prof. Shilkin is currently a guest in Saarbrücken and offers a lecture on Mathematical Foundations of Fluid Mechanics (see http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/~shilkin/Syllabus_Fluid_Mechanics.pdf for more details).

The lecture is intended for all students with a good knowledge of Analysis 1-3.

The Weihnachtsworkshop 2022 takes place at the Saarland University  from Wednesday, December 14 until Friday, December 16. It is the 20th workshop and as usually we will have a broad range of talks from Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory.
