Alex Hartland est chercheur postdoctoral à la chaire de sciences politiques axée sur l'intégration européenne et les relations internationales de l'Université de la Sarre.

Il a obtenu son doctorat à l'Université de Manchester, où il a analysé l'impact du lobbying et de l'opinion publique sur la politique d'asile en Allemagne et au Royaume-Uni. Auparavant, il a étudié la gestion des conflits interculturels à la Alice Salomon Hochschule de Berlin et la psychologie à l'Université de Warwick.

Ses travaux portent sur la confiance politique, les groupes d'intérêt et la politique européenne comparée. Il utilise des données d'enquête, des analyses quantitatives de textes, des modèles de recherche expérimentale et des méthodes qualitatives pour étudier le rôle des institutions, du lobbying et de l'opinion publique dans la politique et le comportement politique.
