Sustainable Energy Systems

The SES lecture provides students with knowledge in the following areas of sustainable energy systems:

  • Overview Energy Systems (Producers/Users/Prosumers)
  • Sustainable Technologies
    o Renewable Sources (Solar, Wind, Hydro, …)
    o Storage Technologies for Electricity (Batteries, H2, …)
    o Thermal Systems (HP, Thermal Storage)
  • For all technologies we have a look at
    o Basic principles
    o (Simplified) Mathematical Models (incl. Exercises with Modeling and Simulation Tools)
    o Availability (spatial and temporal)
    o Sustainability (Needed raw Materials, Longevity, Recycling, Re-Use)
  • Additionally, we look at regulatory and political side conditions
