Open positions
PhD student and postdoc positions on cell-cell communication in epithelial tissues: We are looking for cell biologists with an interest in studying direct epithelial cell-cell interactions. You should hold an academic degree in cell biology, biophysics or biochemistry. Preference will be given to applicants with interest using mouse models (EU function A certification can be obtained when in the lab), primary cell systems, and flow cytometry.
Research environment: The scientists will be part of an international research team, located at the Medical Faculty, Homburg Campus, with state-of-the-art research infrastructure. The Iden lab is an integral part of the interfaculty centers ZHMB (human and molecular biology) and ZBP (Biophysics), nextAID3, and its research falls into the Saarland University’s research focus area BioMed. Moreover, many of our research projects assess sex-specific differences in the aspects studied (Sandra Iden is one of the spokespersons of the CGBM). Saarland shares a border to France and Luxembourg (Paris can be reached in less than 2 hours by train), and Saarland University is a trilingual institution, with many collaborations established between the three countries. Moreover, the lab head coordinates a national consortium on heterotypic cell-cell interactions in epithelia (DFG SPP2493, HetCCI), providing further possibilities to network.
If you meet the profile and are interested in the position please contact Sandra Iden or send your application directly as a single pdf to sandra.iden(at)uni-saarland.de (letter of motivation, CV and publication list, certificates, contact details for 2 references).
In addition to postdoc and PhD positions, we currently have vacancies for a student assistant with experimental lab experience.
We also offer BSc, Master or MD thesis projects, which typically need to be arranged at least 6 months in advance.
